Rachel Precision builds custom competition and hunting rifles in Canton, Mississippi. Every one is chambered and assembled in our shop, run by Randy Rachel, a machinist for more than 40 years. Hunting or competing, your rifle is built for accuracy, reliability and fit.

What goes into a custom hunting rifle?
We build custom hunting rifles with one goal: make the shot count when it comes. That means a lightweight, durable rifle that holds up to hard hunts without giving up precision, and one that’s easy to carry over long distances.

What features go into our hunting rifles?
- Light weight. We use premium materials that cut weight without cutting performance, so the rifle is easier to carry on a long hunt.
- Durability. Whether you’re stalking in the mountains or in dense timber, the rifle is built to handle hard country and bad weather.
- Your cartridge, your barrel. We chamber for the game you hunt, from varmints to big game, on a match-grade barrel for precise, repeatable shots.
- Stock, optic and accessories. Foundation hunting stocks, Hawkins Precision bottom metal, and optics from Kahles, Swarovski, Zeiss and Zero Compromise Optic, all chosen to fit the way you hunt.

In competition, precision is everything. We build our competition rifles for accuracy, consistency and balance, whether you shoot PRS and NRL matches or long-range steel.
Competition builds
What features go into our competition rifles?
- Free-floated barrel. Every competition rifle gets a precision-chambered, free-floated barrel.
- Balance and fit. We set weight distribution for barricades and positional stages, and we fit the stock or chassis and trigger to you.
- Components. Actions from Impact Precision, Lone Peak Arms and Zermatt Arms, chassis from MDT and MPA, and triggers from Bix’n Andy and TriggerTech.
- Calibers. 6 Creedmoor, 6GT, 6 Dasher, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester and many more.
PRS Rimfire and NRL22
Do you build .22LR rifles for PRS Rimfire and NRL22?
Yes. We build .22LR match rifles on the Zermatt Arms RimX action, which has the same Remington 700 footprint as your centerfire rifle. Dakota Wright, Matt Stiner and John Boyken shoot Rachel Precision rifles, and all three were on the 2025 U.S. Precision Rifle Rimfire Team.

Which components do we build with?
We build with parts from makers we trust.
- Barrels: Brux, CRB, Krieger, Bartlein, Benchmark and Muller Works, all makers known for consistent, accurate barrels.
- Triggers: Bix’n Andy and TriggerTech, for crisp, clean breaks.
- Stocks and chassis: Manners, Foundation, MasterPiece Arms (MPA), McMillan and MDT.
- Optics: Kahles, Swarovski, Zeiss and Zero Compromise Optic.
The process
How does a custom build work?
- Call or send the build form. Tell us what you shoot and what you want the rifle to do.
- We spec it together. Action, cartridge, barrel, stock or chassis, trigger, muzzle and optic. You get a quote before any work starts.
- We order the parts. Some are on our shelf, and some come from the makers.
- We do the machine work. We chamber, thread, crown, true and bed the rifle in our shop, then assemble it.
- We ship it to your FFL dealer. Then we want to hear how it shot at your first match.

How does a Rachel Precision build work?
You call or send the build form, and we spec the rifle together: action, cartridge, barrel, stock or chassis, trigger, muzzle and optic. You get a quote before work starts. We order the parts, do the chambering, threading, crowning and bedding in our shop, assemble the rifle and ship it to your FFL dealer.
What’s the difference between a hunting build and a competition build?
A hunting rifle is built to carry: lighter, tough, in a stock made for the field and a cartridge matched to your game. A competition rifle is built for positional stages and barricades: heavier, balanced for support, with a free-floated barrel and a chassis or stock set up for PRS or NRL. Both get the same chambering and machine work.
What calibers do you build?
For competition, we build in 6 Creedmoor, 6GT, 6 Dasher, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester and many more. For hunting, we chamber everything from .223 Remington and .243 Winchester to 7mm Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum. For PRS Rimfire and NRL22, we build .22LR rifles on the RimX action.
How much does a custom rifle cost, and how long does it take?

Can I use parts I already own?
Often, yes. Tell us what you have (action, barrel, stock, trigger or optic) when you call (601) 573-2753, and we’ll tell you what we can build around it. If you’re sending an action or a rifle, call before you ship so we can tell you how to send it.
