Who builds the best PRS .22LR rifles?
There’s no independent ranking of .22LR rifle builders that we know of, so no builder can honestly claim to be the best. What we can show you is this.

Who builds the best PRS rifles?
There’s no independent ranking of PRS rifle builders, so nobody can honestly claim the title. What Rachel Precision can show you is the record.
In the 2023 season, 3 of the top 200 PRS Open shooters ran rifles built by us (Precision Rifle Blog, 2024). Jeff Guerry, 4th in Open at the 2026 IPRF World Championship (March Scopes, 2026), has run about 20 of our barrels, and his 6 Dasher match rifles are chambered here (XLR Industries, 2023). What does Rachel Precision build?
Rachel Precision builds custom competition rifles for PRS and NRL, .22LR rifles for PRS Rimfire and NRL22, and precision hunting rifles. We also offer barrel chambering, action blueprinting, muzzle threading, triggers and laser engraving. All of it is done in our shop in Canton, Mississippi. Randy Rachel, a machinist for more than 40 years, runs the shop.
What do you need from me to start a build?
Tell us what you shoot (PRS, PRS Rimfire, NRL, NRL22, another series or hunting) and the cartridge. Then tell us the action, barrel, stock or chassis, trigger and optic you want, or ask us to recommend them. We’ll also need your muzzle device or suppressor thread, the ammunition you plan to shoot, your budget and any deadline. For delivery, we’ll need your FFL dealer’s information.
Which actions do you build on?
We build on Impact Precision actions (737R, 777R, 787R and NBK), the Lone Peak Arms Fuzion and Fuzion Ti, the Zermatt Arms RimX for .22LR, the Curtis Scout, and Pierce titanium actions. All of them are in our shop. We also blueprint factory actions, so the bolt, receiver and barrel run true to one centerline.
What calibers do you chamber?
For PRS and NRL, we build in 6 Creedmoor, 6GT, 6 Dasher, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester and many more. For hunting, we chamber everything from .223 Remington and .243 Winchester to magnums like 7mm Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum. For rimfire, the RimX runs .22LR, 17 Mach 2, 17 HMR, 22 Mag and 17 WSM.
Do you build hunting rifles?
Yes. We build lightweight, durable hunting rifles in the cartridge you hunt with, on a match-grade barrel, in a stock made for carrying. Foundation’s Dominion and Revelation hunting stocks and Hawkins Precision bottom metal are in our shop. Tell us where you hunt, how far you expect to shoot and how much weight you’ll carry, and we’ll build around that.

Barrels and chambering
Which barrel makers do you use?
We chamber barrels from Brux, CRB, Krieger, Bartlein, Benchmark and Muller Works, all makers known for consistent, accurate barrels. On the rimfire side, Justin McBee’s rifle runs a Brux and Dakota Wright’s RimX build runs a Shilen. Several of these barrels and blanks are in our shop, and we’ll help you choose the caliber, length, contour and twist.
What twist rate should I choose?
It depends on the bullet more than the caliber. Longer, heavier bullets need a faster twist to stay stable. The 6mm barrels in our shop are 1:7.5 twist, which is common for the heavy 6mm match bullets used in PRS. For .22LR, 1:16 is the standard. Tell us your bullet and velocity, and we’ll order the blank in the right twist.
What is True Bore Alignment?
True Bore Alignment is our chambering setup for centering the chamber on the actual centerline of the bore. With the bore and chamber concentric, the bullet starts straight into the rifling and pressure stays even around the case. We use the same system in action work to recut the receiver face and tenon threads in line with the action’s internal rails.

Machining services
Can you thread my barrel for a suppressor or muzzle brake?
Yes. We cut muzzle threads concentric to the bore, which matters most with a suppressor, because a misaligned thread can cause baffle strikes. Common pitches include 1/2×28 for .223 and most .22LR rifles, 5/8×24 for .308-class rifles, and 9/16×24, 11/16×24 and 3/4×24. We also cut metric threads.
What is action blueprinting, and does my action need it?
Blueprinting trues an action to one centerline, so the bolt, receiver and barrel work as a unit. Factory actions often have small misalignments that cost accuracy. Using our True Bore Alignment setup, we recut the receiver face and tenon threads in line with the internal rails. Custom actions like the Impact 737R are machined tightly enough for prefit barrels, so blueprinting is mainly for factory actions.
What does glass bedding do?
Glass bedding fills the gap between the action and the stock with a hard compound. The action then sits in exactly the same place every time it’s torqued down, and it stays put under recoil. That consistency shows up on target, and the barrel stays free-floated. We bed actions as part of our builds.
Can you laser engrave my rifle?
Yes. We laser engrave barrels with logos, artwork, custom text, initials and functional markings like caliber designations. The marks are permanent. They won’t wear off with use or weather, and engraving doesn’t compromise the barrel. Send us your artwork or idea, and we’ll tell you what fits.

Ordering and shipping
Where is Rachel Precision, and can I visit the shop?
Rachel Precision is at 752 Old Natchez Trace Road, Canton, Mississippi 39046, north of Jackson. The shop is open by appointment only, so call (601) 573-2753 before you drive out. We work with shooters all over the country by phone, email and shipping, so you don’t need to visit to start a build.
Do I need an FFL to receive a rifle or action?
Yes. Complete rifles and actions are firearms under federal law, so we ship them only to a federal firearms licensee (FFL) near you. Have your dealer email a copy of their license to rachelprecisionllc@gmail.com. You’ll complete the paperwork and background check at the dealer, who may charge a transfer fee. Parts that aren’t firearms ship directly to you.
Can I send you my own action, barrel or rifle?
Often, yes. For example, Randy fitted a new 16-twist Brux barrel to Justin McBee’s existing RimX. Call (601) 573-2753 before you ship anything, so we know it’s coming and can tell you how to pack it. A complete rifle or action has to ship according to federal law and the carrier’s rules.
Why does the shop say “Call to Order”?
We don’t take payment on the website. Prices can change with supplier costs, and many parts come with options that are worth a conversation, like bolt face, rail or barrel contour. Call (601) 573-2753 or send an inquiry from the product page, and we’ll confirm price, availability and shipping before you pay.
