The RimX has a true Remington 700 footprint. It fits Remington 700 stocks and chassis and takes Remington 700 triggers, so your .22LR can wear the same chassis and trigger as your centerfire rifle. Bolt heads swap between .22LR/17 Mach 2, 17 HMR/22 Mag and 17 WSM, and it ships with a 10-round, adjustable-height magazine.

ModX is a bolt-nose conversion for the RimX action, designed by Modacam Custom Rifles. In MDT’s 2025 .22LR video, Matt Stiner says Randy built his RimX and did the ModX conversion. We chamber rimfire barrels from Brux and Shilen. Justin McBee’s NRL22 and PRS Rimfire rifle runs a Brux, and Dakota Wright’s RimX build runs a Shilen. We’ll help you pick the maker, length and contour for the way you shoot, and we cut the chamber and crown in our shop in Canton, Mississippi.

1:16 is the standard twist for .22LR match ammunition, and it’s what Justin McBee’s current 25-inch Brux runs. Some shooters try faster twists. Justin shot a 13-twist barrel before this one and found it pickier about ammunition. Tell us what ammunition you shoot, and we’ll talk it through before we order your barrel.

No, a tuner is optional. It lets you move the barrel’s vibration node to suit a particular lot of ammunition. Dakota Wright runs an Erik Cortina tuner on her RimX build, while Justin McBee’s 16-twist Brux shoots without one. We stock the EC Tuner V2 and can thread your muzzle to fit it.

Every .22LR barrel likes some lots better than others, so plan on testing. Justin McBee says of his Rachel Precision rifle, “I have not found a lot of quality match rimfire ammo it does not like.” Tell us what you shoot now and what you can buy locally, and we’ll build around it.

Stocks and chassis inletted for the Remington 700 fit the RimX. Dakota Wright’s build sits in an MDT ACC chassis, and the rifle Matt Stiner shoots in the MDT video is in an MDT ACC Elite. Yes. A complete rifle or a RimX action is a firearm under federal law, so we ship it to a licensed dealer (FFL) near you. Your dealer emails us a copy of their license, and you complete the transfer and background check there. Barrels, chassis, triggers and optics ship straight to you.
