On August 8, 2025, MDT Sporting Goods published “Elite Precision Shooters Push The Limits Of .22LR Accuracy” on YouTube. MDT Pro Shooters Matt Stiner and Dave Ostrowske set out to answer one question: how accurate can a .22LR really be? Matt shot the video with a rifle from our shop.
Matt Stiner’s Rachel Precision RimX, on camera
Matt’s rifle in the video is a Rachel Precision RimX with a ModX conversion, in an MDT ACC Elite chassis with a Vortex Razor Gen 3. ModX is a bolt-nose conversion for the RimX, designed by Modacam Custom Rifles. In the video, Matt says Randy built the RimX and did the conversion.
Who is Matt Stiner?
Matt placed 2nd in the Open Division at the 2025 IPRF Rimfire World Championship in England (U.S. Precision Rifle Association). He was also the 2024 PRS Tactical Division Champion (Sniperology).
Those results are Matt’s. The rifle we can speak to is the RimX in this video, so that’s what this post is about.
What does the video show?
KYL racks. The first stage is a Know Your Limits rack at 67 yards, with targets from 2 inches down to 1/2 inch. Then the shooters move out to 200 yards and a 1-inch target. At that distance, a small miss in the wind call is enough to lose a 1-inch target.
Playing-card splits. Next, they split playing cards set edge-on to the shooter, starting at 50 yards and working out to 143 yards. A card’s edge is thinner than the bullet, so any wobble in position or wind shows up right away.
Steel past 500 yards. The last stage is steel past 500 yards. That’s a long way for a .22LR. The bullet drops hard and drifts a long way in the wind, so each hit takes a lot of elevation and a good wind call.
One rifle, one video
This is MDT’s video, not ours. It shows one of our RimX builds in the hands of an MDT Pro Shooter, on targets you can see on camera. Watch it and judge the rifle for yourself.
We build .22LR match rifles on the RimX for PRS Rimfire and NRL22 in Canton, Mississippi. Thinking about one? See how we build PRS .22LR rifles.
